Late summer this year was such a salient time to enjoy all the colors before fall. Random long walks to the farmers market cured the urge. It was all so beautiful.
From the hues of various fruits and flowers to the smell of fresh produce, I wanted to soak it all in. I sat down quietly on the bench and watched hundreds of people walk by. The elderly, the young, the couple, children. The look on their faces. The giggles. It was lovely. As I walked down, I could not resist the aroma of freshly baked croissant. The line was long. We all wanted a taste of something good.
Snagged myself some goodies from the market and slung my tote bag like a child as I headed back home. I knew it was time for a new collection. I was inspired. I didn’t want to leave it all behind in summer.
Few days later, I pushed myself out of my comfort zone to a 15-Day fruit challenge. Everyday was a new artwork on Instagram using the #fruitmarketbyble hashtag. At first, I tried my hands on digital, and then, in-between, acrylic painting. From curating a mood board to designing a collection, the entire process took about six weeks and I was pleased with the outcome. Some of the artworks made it to the collection stage, and some didn’t. It’s all part of the process.
One sure thing for creative juices to flow was to curate my own inspiration. I got myself a bag full of fruits and played around with motifs and compositions. It was fun!
